Watch band size guide

Length comes from your wrist, width from the watch. Measure your wrist to pick a band.

Brands vary. These conversions follow Apple's published S/M (130–180 mm) and M/L (150–200 mm) band ranges; third-party straps list their own. Another label can run half a size (or a whole size) different, so if the store publishes its own chart, trust that first. All sources

How to measure your wrist

  1. Cut a strip of paper about 1 cm wide.
  2. Wrap it around your wrist just above the wrist bone, where you wear a watch.
  3. Mark where it overlaps and measure in millimetres.
  4. For a traditional buckle strap, add 10–15 mm; for a bracelet, jewellers usually add about 15–20 mm.

Questions shoppers ask

How do I measure my wrist for a watch band?

Wrap a strip of paper or a soft tape around your wrist just above the wrist bone, where the watch sits, and mark where it overlaps. Measure the length in millimetres. Add about 10 to 15 mm for a comfortable (not tight) strap.

What Apple Watch band size do I need?

Apple sells sport bands in S/M and M/L. Apple's product listings state S/M fits 130–180 mm wrists and M/L fits 150–200 mm (as on the Apple Watch Ultra 2 listing). Between 150 and 180 mm both fit; pick S/M if your wrist is slim, M/L for thicker wrists or a looser fit.

What is lug width?

Lug width is the gap between the watch's lugs where the strap attaches, measured in millimetres (commonly 18, 20 or 22 mm). It sets the strap width you need; wrist size sets the strap length.
