Questions shoppers ask
How much growing room should kids' shoes have?
About a thumb's width (roughly 1 to 1.5 cm) beyond the longest toe. More than that and the shoe slips at the heel.
What do C and Y mean in kids' shoe sizes?
C is "child" (toddler and little kid sizes, 1C to 13.5C). After 13.5C the count restarts at 1Y, "youth", which runs to 7Y. A 7Y is the same length as a US men's 7 and roughly a women's 8.5.
What size shoe does a 2-year-old wear?
Many two-year-olds are in toddler 6C to 8C, but feet vary widely. Measure the foot: a 14 cm foot is an 8C on Nike's chart, and with growing room you would pick 9C.
How often should I re-measure?
Every two to three months for toddlers and every four to six months for school-age children, since feet grow fastest in the first years.
