Brands vary. These conversions follow EN 420 (now EN ISO 21420) hand sizes, with letter sizes as marked by glove makers such as COFRA. Another label can run half a size (or a whole size) different, so if the store publishes its own chart, trust that first. All sources
How to measure your hand
- Hold your dominant hand flat, fingers together, thumb out to the side.
- Wrap a soft tape around the palm across the knuckles, below the thumb joint (EN 420 specifies 20 mm below the fork of thumb and index finger).
- Read the measurement in inches; round to the nearest whole number.
- Optional: measure from wrist crease to the tip of the middle finger for hand length.

How do I measure my hand for gloves?
Wrap a tape around your dominant hand across the knuckles, excluding the thumb, with fingers together. EN 420 measures 20 mm below the crotch between thumb and index finger. The number in inches is your glove size.
What glove size is a men's large?
On the EN 420 scale a large is size 9, for a hand circumference of about 229 mm (9 in) and hand length around 192 mm. Many men wear 9 or 10.
Are glove sizes the same for men and women?
The numeric scale is the same. Women's ranges usually start at 6 (XS) and men's run from 8 (M) to 11 (XXL). Fashion brands sometimes shift letter sizes, so check the number where given.
What if my hand length and circumference suggest different sizes?
Circumference sets the size for most gloves. If your fingers are long for your size, look for brands that list a hand-length measurement, or size up for work gloves where fingertip room matters.
